Sermon Note
Pastor Lawrence
2 Corinthians 1:8-11
For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our [a]trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. 9 Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, 10 who delivered us from so great a death, and [b]does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us, 11 you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on [c]our behalf for the gift granted to us through many.
Put your trust in Jesus Christ, you will never be put to shame
He will delver you
We are meant to come together so that we can encourage each other in the faith, so that we can pray for one another
Paul was delivered through the prayer of the saints.
They prayed, and when they prayed, even Paul was helped by the Lord
We care for one another and we pray for one another
Confess your thoughts to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed
That is so powerful
Confess your challenges
Acts 14:8-10
And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked. 9 This man heard Paul speaking. [a]Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, 10 said with a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet!” And he leaped and walked
He heard! He only heard! When he heard, faith came. When the faith came with the word of declaration, STAND UP, he did not just stand up, he leaped and walked!
This is amazing miracle. A man who was born lame
What did he hear?
Acts 14:7
And they were preaching the gospel there
What do you need to hear in order for the power of God to come into your life?
Gospel of the grace of God on all of us
We are saved by grace through faith, and not of ourselves, not of works, lest anyone should boast
You are not saved by good works, but saved for good works
It is not by our good works we are healed. Healing is unmerited grace of God.
He simply heard what Jesus has done and faith came, and he was healed! Not his good works!
Wherever the gospel goes, God’s power goes!
Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of Christ
Jesus died at the cross for my sins
All the sins in our entire life was placed on Him
He was judged by God for our sins, every sins and even sin we have yet to commit in our future. God placed it on Jesus. He died willingly for us.
All our sins are forgiven!
Today we are the righteousness of God in Christ
Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit
How do you see God?
How do you see Jesus? He is smiling at you
1 sacrifice for sin forever
Acts 20:22-24
And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there, 23 except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. 24 [a]But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my [b]race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
The gospel of grace is burning, a fame that never dies!
God is for us! God is not judging our sins against us
Romans 1: 16-17
For I am not ashamed of the gospel [a]of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
Unspeakable joy!
Malachi 4:2
But to you who fear My name
The Sun of Righteousness shall arise
With healing in His wings;
And you shall go out
And grow fat like stall-fed calves.
Through the sun, we see light
Sun can also be seen as a source of light
The sun is the source of heat and light and the source of life
The Sun of Righteousness shall arise
With healing in His wings
Righteousness has got to do with Jesus
When you preach the gospel, there will be healing in His wings
The wings is the Hebrew word Kanaph
kanaph (Strong's Definitions) an edge or extremity; specifically of a bird, a wing, a garment, a flapJewish men will wear prayer shawl
Luke 8: 43-48
43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, 44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.
45 And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?”
When all denied it, Peter [a]and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, [b]and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”
46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” 47 Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.
48 And He said to her, “Daughter, [c]be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
Go into peace
The Lord wanted her to know that she is not just another women in the multitude of women in this world, but she is a daughter
He said to her, be of good cheers!
He is anointed with the oil of gladness
She touched the righteousness of God
In order to be righteous, the man has to fulfil every single one of the 10 commandments. This woman touched the righteousness of God and no longer depend on her own righteousness, and immediately she was healed
Jeremiah 33: 6-9
6 Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth. 7 And I will cause the captives of Judah and the captives of Israel to return, and will rebuild those places as at the first. 8 I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned and by which they have transgressed against Me. 9 Then it shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise, and an honor before all nations of the earth, who shall hear all the good that I do to them; they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and all the prosperity that I provide for it.’
